Thankfully we managed to spend a lot of time together while we were living in separate countries and both realised that we still meant a lot to each other. Hence the big decision by Ruben to move back here to live. I've got to say that his employer, a major international bank, were pretty amazing when he told them the reason why he wanted to move back to London. They were incredibly understanding and open to making sure stuff was sorted out and have even made the effort to make sure he's still happy now that he's been over here for a while.

My faith in society being more understanding, grows daily.

As I mentioned, I'm now in a relationship with a wonderful guy called Ruben.

We've been together for about 5 years now and I love him more than I could put into words. He's originally from Panama and was living in the US for many years. We actually met in the UK, while he was over here working and had the most fantastic 18 months - a time in which I realised that this was someone who meant the world to me and who I wanted to be with for a very long time.

Work commitments sent him back to the States for about 2 years, until last year when he moved back over to the UK to live with me. That time was probably the hardest time for me, as it coincided with me having to face reality and deciding to tell my friends and family about my life and at the same time realising that the person who meant the most to me was 5,000 miles away in another country.
